Language

The Dante Alighieri Society offers Adult Italian Language Courses from beginners to advanced level. The courses are designed to focus on effective communication and understanding in everyday life situations and enabling the students to communicate and express themselves quickly and effectively . The courses are interactive and communicative with an extensive use of audio and visual material. The tutors are native speakers and of Italian background and classes are enriched by their genuine knowledge of Italian traditions and social life.

The language courses are offered in the first semester and second semester.

Children's Language Courses are also offered with classes taught in a fun environment using everyday activities, games, singing and creative art work. These courses coincide with schools term.

Language courses program

Beginners level
Students attending this class will become familiar with Italian pronunciation and acquire vocabulary. The student at this level will learn basic grammatical and lexical structures through the introduction of situations in everyday life with particular focus on greetings and introducing oneself both at oral and written level. Upon completion the student is able to put a message across with the use of simple sentences.
Intermediate level
Conducted both in English and in Italian, this course is designed for developing listening and speaking skills through more spontaneous communication. Focus of this level is to develop the ability to engage in past and present conversation. Additional emphasis is also given to writing skills.
Advanced level
Students attending this class will have the opportunity to further practice the four skills: listening, writing, speaking and reading.

In these classes conversation, role plays and literature discussions are the primary means of learning.

All students are required to be members of the Dante Alighieri Society as the language classes are activities of the Society.
Fees for single membership are included in the price of the course.
